Tried and tested rural campsites in France

Le Chateau de Bossion is a lovely campsite in the Cevennes/Ardeche region a little village on a hill surrounded by sunflower fields.

I would recommend a grand confort pitch (green on the site map) up near the Chateau we had pitch number 11 tucked away in a corner which was a good size pitch and sheltered from the heat. We visited for 10 days in August and it was 40 degrees everyday, facilities are clean and well maintained.  There are 3 swimming pools one indoor, an outdoor with a slide and a baby pool. There is a small shop on site for basics and you can order bread and crossiant each day for the following morning.

This is a great base for visiting 'Vallon Pont Dd Arc', the roman aqueduct bridge 'Pont du Gard' and Avignon.  We loved this site and will definetly visit again.  www.chateaudeboisson.com

La Grange Fort (Chateau Camping) is situated in central France just south of Clermont Ferrand, set on a hill top 3km from Issoire is La Grange Fort.

It is a stunning campsite, there are flat camping spots on the edge of the hill overlooking views of countryside or you can camp right next to the castle. The swimming pool is set at the front of the castle it is a beautiful setting.  There is a takeaway which does great pizza, and a converted stable bar.

We stopped over for 2 nights in 2010 and we loved it so much are going back for 5 nights this year.

You can explore the volcanic region of France from this spot, or just relax by the spectacular pool. There was a lovely view from our pitch see more photos below.  http://www.lagrangefort.eu/
